Tesla正和AMD合作，为自动驾驶开发自己的AI芯片【Rumor】

Tesla CEO, Elom Musk今年说更高效的专用芯片将使Tesla距离完全自动驾驶更进一步，承诺这项功能将于2019年提供给消费者。

目前Tesla的汽车自动驾驶使用NVIDIA显卡作为硬件，而CNBC报道称Tesla正与AMD合作来改善自家的新芯片，减少对NVIDIA的依赖。

Tesla自研芯片项目由2016年初加入的Jim Keller领头。他正是AMD Zen架构和K12的主要设计者和领头人，也曾设计过苹果A4和A5。Keller手下有50人以上的队伍，Tesla聘请Keller后还找来了几位AMD老将，包括主管Ganesh Venkataramanan，资深硬件工程师Bill McGee和系统电路设计专家Dan Bailey。Keller和队伍都很熟悉AMD。

在GTC会议上GF CEO Sanjay Jha说到

“As we develop these new technologies, we are also seeing a big shift in the business model and the foundry business. What is happening is that system companies like Google, like Amazon, like Tesla, like Microsoft, are coming directly to foundries. They are working directly with IP companies and system development companies because they want to control the hardware and software.”

虽然提到Tesla，但只是举例。

GF发言人否认和Tesla有合作：

“Sanjay’s comments at GLOBALFOUNDRIES’ GTC event were not reported accurately. In his presentation, Sanjay simply cited that companies like Apple, Google and Tesla are examples of the types of businesses showing interest in working closely with silicon companies to differentiate their offerings. Tesla has not committed to working with us on any autonomous driving technology or product.”

但即便GF没有和Tesla合作，也不代表AMD不会和Tesla合作（Tesla选的三星代工）。

之前AMD财报有提到半定制业务拿到了3个大单，1个是PS4 Pro，1个是Xbox X的Project Scorpio，另一个没有透露；

在上周的德意志银行技术大会上，AMD CFO Devinder Kumar回答了AMD的美国半导体研究主任Ross Seymore的问题 – 由于主机业务换代更新导致半定制业务的压力日益增长。他回答说虽然同比营收有减少，但拿到了更多订单。他说：

“The design wins you talked about is coming in 2018. That is a non-game console product and that revenue should be happening in the 2018 timeframe to continue to help the revenue on the semi-custom which sits within the EESC segment.”

所问的订单会在2018年。不是游戏主机，且将在2018年内带来营收。

AMD拒绝对这则新闻发表评论。Tesla称不会对传闻和猜测作出评论。
